Mathematical Modeling as a Capstone
Course at
New Mexico Tech has added a new class to the graduation requirements for Math majors – Math 430, Mathematical Modeling. This course serves multiple roles. For Math majors, it is a capstone experience, pulling together mathematical techniques and science from several classes. It is also becoming a popular class for first year graduate students in some other departments, particularly some of the Engineering programs. We will discuss the course and give some examples of modeling projects from the course.
