16.5   Multiple Dialup Adaptors - BAD

From Jason Trowbridge, Tue Aug 24 13:37:32 1999

Actually, this is good for all the UCs to know about. If a computer has multiple dial-up adapters, no dial-up connections will work correctly.

The other common problems involve username/password mistypings (numpad w/o numlock, caps lock on, etc).

She had been using another dial-up service before coming to Tech. Although she had deleted that connection, that service's settings had screwed up the network settings on her computer.

Part of the problem stemmed that she had two dial-up adapters under the network panel. Deleting the extraneous dial-up adapter fixed the problem.

Subject: home access to nmt network

Ratman,

I am connecting to Telnet, but when the terminal server prompt comes up, and I try to login to rainbow (or cobra as was also suggested) I keep getting a message that I can not connect to....

I have a Windows 98 program at home. Any suggestions?
