The TCC's Linux DUN Homepage!
This directory contains two files (a tgz [tar, gzipped file] and a short document on getting started) which I wrote for Linux users who only have modem access. It uses a program called wvdial. The source code is included with this package.
The help file was written intending for the user (that's you) to have the tgz file on a MS-DOS formatted floppy. However, this will work perfectly if the file is simply downloaded (although, if you can't dial into the TCC than I'm not sure how you'll get them without a floppy disk [I suppose you could use a Zip or Jaz disk or burn it to CD]). :)
I know all you Linux guru's out there hear this every time but "Please read ALL the appropriate documents in the docs directory!!!" Reading documentation really helps...I promise!!!
Remember, this software is an alpha version so don't be too mad if it doesn't work or if it screws something up (more info on this subject can be found in the intro file in the docs directory). That being said, I am definately looking for people (specifically with Red Hat 6.x systems) to try this version and report any bugs to me, linuxman@nmt.edu.
Also, you need to make sure that your system meets the minimum
requirements. This is very important to at least look at before running
the configure and install scripts. The requirements are found in the docs
directory or here (but I have yet to see a
system that doesn't meet all of the software requirements by default).
On a TCC machine, use: getdisk linux-ppp
or download the disk image here
and use: dd if=linux-ppp of=/dev/fd0 bs=8192
