Speare 16: TCC Machine Room

Back here, is where all the GUTS (servers, backup robots, network switches, and router) of the TCC reside.

We've split most services out to individual machines to improve service. Most of the servers are rack mounted for space efficency (when Speare 16 became too small for all the machines it needed to hold it consumed Speare 17). Among the services provided by the servers in this room are:

• Login (rainbow).
• User disk space, Samba, and NFS (userhost).
• Mail (mailhost).
• Web pages (infohost).
• Printing (printhost).
• Lyris email lists (lyris).
• Oracle and MySQL databases (dbhost).
• File system backup (backup).
• DNS (internaldns0 and extrenaldns0)
• VPN (vpn).
• Software updates (update).
• WebCT (webct).
• A wintel PC Beowulf cluster (beowulf).
• A Macintosh cluster (mac-cluster).

It is also where the printer speare16 is. If you ever print anything to this printer, your printout will be placed in a shelf, alphabetically according to your accountname, in Speare 14.
