Education Partnership Agreements

Directors of defense laboratories are authorized to:
- Enter into education partnership agreements with educational institutions* in the US in order to encourage and enhance study in scientific disciplines at all levels of education by:
- Loaning equipment to the institution
- Transferring to the institution equipment determined by the director to be surplus
- Making personnel available to teach science courses or assist in developing science courses and materials
- Involving faculty and students in research
- Cooperating in developing academic credit programs for students for work done on defense laboratory projects
- Providing academic and career advice and assistance to students
- Give priority to partnering with historically black colleges, universities, and other minority institutions
- Give priority to assisting educational institutions serving women and groups of individuals traditionally involved in engineering and science professions in disproportionately low numbers
* including K-12 school districts, local educational agency, colleges, universities and any other nonprofit institutions dedicated to improving science, mathematics and engineering education (501 c3)
