National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowships

The Secretary of Defense shall:
- Prescribe regulations for the award of the National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowships, including criteria for awarding fellowships
- Encourage applications from persons, who are members of groups historically underrepresented in science and technology fields
- Fellowship recipients are citizens or nationals of the US pursuing graduate degrees in science, engineering or other priority fields of interest to DoD
- Fellowships awarded in nationwide competition, based solely on academic ability, and not predicated on geographic region (student or institution)
