Fixing a Broken Windows Profile

To fix your own profile
Warning! This deletes all Windows files and settings except for the Desktop and My Documents folders.
- Log off of Windows everywhere.
- Log into Linux and open a command prompt.
- Type "/fs/tedium/userscripts/reset_windows.sh" and press ENTER.
- When prompted, type "y" and press ENTER again.
The Windows profile will be deleted and all files from the Windows Desktop and My Documents (and only those files) will be saved to directories in "~/From_Windows".
Troubleshooting:
- Did you remember to log off Windows everywhere before running the script?
- The first login to Windows after running the script is the important one. If you have problems, try making the first login to a machine that you have never logged on to before. This will ensure that you get a fresh profile instead of a cached profile. (We take steps to delete all cached profiles, but sometimes gremlins intervene...)
These directions can replace old profile deletion instructions in the UC FAQ or other documentation.
