Employer Manual - Hiring Student Employees
Logging Into Student Employment
- Go to: Interfase
- Enter your phone number.
- Enter the password that you received from Career Services. (Remember this password is case sensitive!)
- Highlight New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology from the school list.
- Click on [Employer Login].
- On the Job Listings Menu, you will see:
- Create a New _________ Job: to create a new job listing with pull-down menu;
- Your Currently Active Jobs: jobs currently being viewed by students;
- Your Currently Inactive Jobs: jobs not currently viewed by students;
- Your Jobs in the Holding Bin: jobs waiting to be approved by the Career Center.
- At the bottom of the screen you will have the options to edit the selected job, duplicate a job, change a job type, and remove (delete) a job from the database. See "Other Features"
Creating a New Job Listing
- Use the pull-down menu to select the type of job you wish to enter;
- Click [Create];
- Complete the form. (Remember, this is what the students will be viewing; therefore you can change the contact information.)
- All fields that are marked in red must be completed. This includes the Remove Listing On date. Once this date has passed, the job will become inactive and will no longer be viewable by students.
- Click on [Preview].
- Click on: [Approve & Post]* if you would like to activate the job listing, or [Approve & Archive] if you would like to save the job listing in the Inactive Jobs section for future use, or [Edit] if you need to make any further changes, or [Cancel] to return to the jobs listing Menu without saving your job listing.
(*If you choose [Approve & Post] then your job will begin running once it is approved by the career center.)
Editing a Job Listing
- Select the job listing that you would like to edit, from the Active Jobs section, the Inactive Jobs section, or the Holding Bin section, by clicking on the open circle to the immediate left of the date/job title of the appropriate listing.
- Click on [Edit].
- Scroll to the bottom of the Job Listing Preview page and click on [Edit].
- Modify/update the job listing.
- Click on [Preview].
- Choose to either [Approve & Post] or [Approve & Archive] your job listing. (See step 6 of Creating a New Job Listing for a description of these two options. Do not forget to change the Remove Listing On date if necessary. Also remember your job listing will begin running once it is approved by the career center.
To remove a listing from the Active Jobs section to the Inactive Jobs section, follow steps 1-2 above and click on [Approve & Archive]. The status of the listing will be updated overnight.
To move (re-activate) a listing from the Inactive Jobs section to the Active Jobs section, follow steps 1-2 above and click on [Approve & Post]. The status of the listing will be updated overnight.
Other Features
First, select the job listing with which you would like to work from the Active Jobs section, Inactive Jobs section, or the Holding Bin section, then:
• [Duplicate]: You can create different jobs that are similar without having to retype the data by clicking [Duplicate]. The job will be assigned a separate job identification number, but the data will be exactly the same as the listing duplicated. To modify the new listing, simply follow the steps for Editing a Job Listing.
• [Change]: You can change a job type by using this option Use the pull-down menu to pick the appropriate new job type, and click on [Change].
• [Remove]: This feature will completely delete a job from the system. Once you have removed the listing, it is no longer accessible and cannot be retrieved.
Entering Placement Data (optional)
- The career center or student employment office may give you the option to enter placement date for your job postings. That office for reporting purposes uses this placement data. If you have been given this option then you will see an [Enter] Placement Data button at the bottom of the Job Listings Menu.
- Select the job listing with which you would like to work, from the Active Jobs section, Inactive Jobs section, or the Holding Bin section.
- Click on [Enter].
- Type in the first few letters of the student's first and/or last name.
- Click on [Search]
- On the Placement Date - Search Results page, click to open circle next to the name that you want to select. (If the student's name does not come up then click on [Perform Another Search] and try again.)
- Click on [Submit].
- Use the Placement Data - Entry Form to enter the placement data.
- Click [Submit Data].
- Click [Return to Jobs Menu].
