Interviewing On Campus Through Career Services

When and Who
On-campus interviews are normally scheduled from September through mid-November and from early February through mid-April. Most employers interview on campus only once a year.

Some of the interviewing employers are regulars on campus. Others each year are visiting Tech for the first time, enticed either because they were contacted by someone from Tech or because they have heard good things about Tech's programs and graduates.

Employers call the Career Services office to request the date(s) and number of interview schedules. They set up on Interview Trak and will indicate what majors and class levels they want to interview, how many people they can schedule, and any restrictions such as grade point average and citizenship.

The typical schedule consists of thirteen 30-minute interviews, although there may be more (for example, if the recruiter wants to begin earlier or end later in the day). There may also be fewer, if, for example, the interviewer needs to leave Socorro earlier in the afternoon.

Pre-Screening
Some employers want to prescreen the students who are interested in interviewing, so they can select the people who are the right fit for their organization.

When an employer has asked for resumes to pre-screen, you will need to follow the instructions on Interview Trak for resume submission.

On-Campus Recruting
This information is typically provided on the "Schedule of Events" page, included in Scope, and posted on Calendar of Events. Check InterviewTRAK as well. New dates are added continually, so check often.

Missing Your Interview
If you find that you are unable to keep an interview appointment, notify the Career Services office (835-5780 or careerservices@admin.nmt.edu) as early as possible. If you fail to keep an interview appointment without prior notification, you will be asked to write a letter of apology and explanation to the recruiter. If you should fail to keep two scheduled interview appointments without prior notification, you will not be scheduled through this office for additional on-campus interviews during the year.
