Stage Door Grill, Socorro, NM (CLOSED)

Sadly, the Stage Door Grill closed in September, 2010. I hate this economy!

The Stage Door Grill opened in October, 2007. I tried lunch there on their second day, and had not one thing to complain about! Anyone who knows me well will be quite surprised by this—I almost always find plenty of details to pick at.

The place is not on California Street, the main drag in town, so it's a little tricky to find. My advice is to drive north or south on California and look for the signs to the Historic Plaza, west of California one block on Manzanares Avenue. As you circle around the plaza, look to your right: the Stage Door is one block north of the center of the plaza.

This is fine dining, at least by Socorro standards, and a proper heir to the late, lamented Valverde Steakhouse. In addition to the requisite burgers and steaks, there are a number of Cajun specialties.

Here's their menu as of early November 2007, just to give you the general idea.

Sides: regular fries, garlic fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, sautéed mushrooms, garlic mashers, dirty rice, Cajun beer bread, seasonal vegetable.
