Shipman's favorite Albuquerque restaurants

Disclaimers: This is by no means comprehensive. I don't get to Albuquerque that often, but if I'm going to drive all that way I want a nice meal. Since Socorro has great Mexican fare, I hardly ever eat Mexican food in the city. Me for something Asian or otherwise out of the ordinary.

My favorites By category

I tried in vain to rank my Albuquerque favorites. I list them in reverse alphabetical order just for the heck of it. They are all superb and will likely make you very happy every time.

  • Zea Bistro****: On the south side of Montgomery just west of San Mateo.
  • Terra Bistro****
  • Slate Street Cafe****: one block north of Lomas between 5th and 6th. See their web page.
  • Seasons****
  • Scalo Italian Grill****
  • Prairie Star****
  • Marcello's Chop House****: In the Q Center north of Indian School and east of Louisiana. Pricey; nice meats.
  • Le Cafe Miche****
  • India Palace****
  • Bien Shur****
  • Artichoke Cafe****
  • Ambrozia Cafe closed on 2008-01-01, but owner Sam Etheridge's new operation, the Nob Hill Bar & Grill, should be open shortly at the old Graze/Kanome location, 3128 Central SE.
