Continental/contemporary restaurants in Albuquerque
This category isn't really well-defined; it includes several
places that offer classic Continental bistro styles, and some
contemporary places that are trying to innovate, and some places
that partake of both.
- AmbroZia
- Artichoke Cafe
- Restaurant Jennifer James
- Seasons
- Terra Bistro
- Bread and Wine****, northeast corner of Wyoming and Candelaria,
in the strip mall behind the large credit union building. A new
Old World place, with a menu of classics (e.g., veal scallopine
marsala, piccata, or schnitzel; baked rigatoni with housemade
garlic sausage; lamb osso bucco). Mr. Baciu runs the house and
his wife cooks, and they're both perfectionists. Our young
waiter was struggling to give us a level of formal service rare on
this side of the Atlantic. The food was quite nice, with the
use of herbs particularly fortuitous. We'll be going back to
see how things settle in.
