Ruddy Ground-Dove, NM: Bosque del Apache NWR
All photos Copyright (C) 1999 John W. Shipman
This is very rare in New Mexico, and to my knowledge this is
the only solid record north of Las Cruces.
The bird is a female. Note the black tail corners. The
lack of scalloped texture to the back and underparts separates
it from Common Ground-Dove and Inca Dove.
Originals on Kodachrome 200. Nikkor 300mm lens with Nikkor
TC-301 2x teleconverter at f/5.6.
