Description: One of these was wigeon-shaped but had a bizarre plumage. It was darker, ratty-looking: prebasic molt? hybrid with unspeakable domestics? According to Alan Kerr, two wigeons stayed over the summer.

Roadrunner, Greater 1 @Socorro
"Hilltop", the small grove just west of Tech's greenhouse.
Behavior: As I was resting on a stump, this cuckoo made a complete circle around me at a range of about five yards. First he walked up a fallen trunk to look at me from above, then went back down the trunk, and foraged in a circle, eventually returning to a spot below the highest spot he had reached on the trunk. I wasn't completely frozen, but he didn't seem to panic when I made a few small moves, or when I turned around to watch him circle behind me. Perhaps this bird is somewhat tame; the location was not far from Faculty Hill, where I know several people feed roadrunners.
