Route Left Socorro around 1230; took SR1 through Luis Lopez, then County A101 to US380, then SR1 to the refuge, finishing the loop around 1630.
Missed No cormorants; no Ross's Goose.
Film Cleaned front element (was very grungy), finished a roll of KL, shot a whole roll of KR, started another roll of KL. (KL=Kodachrome 200, KR=Kodachrome 64)

Description: Its flight was strong and fast. Upperparts were an even steel-blue. The tail was black with about 8-10 narrow white bars, getting further apart distally, with a narrow whitish terminal band.
Behavior: Driving south from the loop entrance, I saw this bird flying north down a ditch, well below the tops of the banks.

There is a cluster of outbuildings hard by the railroad track not far N of where the track crosses SR1. I think they may be railroad signal equipment. A group of about ten of these grackles was on the wire overhead.
