Magdalena Mountains, Cibola National Forest, New Mexico
Hike from the Water Canyon picnic area up the side of the mountain to a
cave I enjoyed camping at in the 1980s. At the time, it was our planned
hide out for when the cold war ended and Russia nuked us. The new GPS
performed well, but there was lots of times I was underground and it
lost track, so the tracklog is really sketchy.
Hike up the South side of Hells Mesa in the Bear Mountains (North of
Magdalena). There is no trail, we just meandered up and down.
Hike from Water Canyon picnic area up Mesa Trail #13 and around the big
loop. The trail was bad in spots, and missing other spots. There were
many downed trees as well. The new GPS works quite well.
Hike from Water Canyon picnic area to the Copper Canyon trailhead, up
Copper Canyon to trail 8, West to the road, down the road to trail 11,
down trail 11 to the road, and part way down the road back to the Water
Canyon picnic area. The GPS had trouble maintaining a clear signal in
some of the upper parts of Copper Canyon so that part of the tracklog is
corrupted.

Up and down the initial part of trail 13. The log starts and ends in
the Water Canyon picnic area, and ascends until the trail begins
emerging onto the top of the mesa.
