Notice!!!!

We are still waiting to hear from the National Science Foundation in regard to our request for a renewal of funding for Summer 2011. As soon as we know we are funded, an announcement will appear here and the application materials will be updated.

The delay is due to the failure of Congress to pass a budget for the 2011 fiscal year.

The 2011 summer program is contingent on pending NSF Funding

Welcome to the web site for Interdisciplinary Science for the Environment: A Summer Research Experience at New Mexico Tech.

This summer, 12 undergraduates will have the opportunity to conduct research on environmentally-related topics at New Mexico Tech. Each participant will be part of an interdisciplinary team of faculty and students working together on one of seven research projects. Each project is described in detail on the research projects page. In addition to research activities, students will have the opportunity to take part in weekend field trips that explore the rich environmental, cultural, and historical heritage of New Mexico.

The program begins on XXX and ends on XXX. All participants will receive a stipend of $XXXX, free housing on campus, a meal allowance, and reimbursement for travel expenses (limitations apply). For particpants with children and/or spouses, family-style housing and on-campus childcare will be provided at no charge. Students will also earn academic credit.

All students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, currently enrolled in a degree granting college or university, and will not earn a Bachelor's degree before XXX are eligible to apply. We will begin evaluating applications on XXX. Applications received by that date will receive priority. Application instructions and forms are located on the application materials page.

This program is funded by the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, the National Cave and Karst Research Institute, and New Mexico Tech.
