New to Tech and/or FastLane?
If you have never submitted an NSF proposal by FastLane, or if you are a new hire at Tech, please call (-5690) or email the Research Services Manager so that you can be added to Tech's FastLane database at NSF. You will need to provide the following information so that you can be added to the NSF's database:
- Full Name
- Social Security Number (a random pseudo-SSN can be assigned to you upon request)
- Office Phone Number
- Office Fax Number
- Email Address
- Which department or division you are affiliated with
- The highest degree you've attained, and the year that you received it
This information will be entered into the database, after which you will receive a FastLane password that will allow you to log into the FastLane website.
Location of the FastLane website:
https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/fastlane.jsp
This is a secure server, and you should see some indication of this fact in your browser. You should also adjust your browser settings to enable Java and Javascript.
FastLane Login Instructions:
First Time Login For New Users:
Once R&ED has set up a new FastLane account for you, we will send you an email containing your temporary password. Once you have a temporary password, point your Internet browser to the FastLane website.
At the FastLane website, click on the link entitled "Proposals, Awards, and Status" to go to the Login page.
In the box entitled "PI/CoPI Login," you should type in the following information:
- Lastname: Type in your last name (this field is case-insensitive)
- SSN: Type in your Social Security Number -- leave out the hyphens!
- Password: Type in the temporary password you received from R&ED (this field is also case-insensitive)
- Then click the LOGIN button
When you log in for the first time using a temporary password, FastLane will immediately ask you to change your password. Your new password must be between 6 and 20 characters long, and must contain at least one number and one letter. Please write down or save your new password, because R&ED will not have access to your new password.
Already have a FastLane account, but cannot remember your password?
There are two ways to go about getting a new FastLane password:
1. Call or email the Research Services Manager so that she can assign you a temporary FastLane password. Immediately after you log in with your temporary FastLane password, you will be prompted you to change your password as a security measure. After you complete the change, you should be able to proceed to all other FastLane functions.
2. You can reset your FastLane password yourself without having to go through the R&ED Office. To reset your password yourself:
Click the link below to go directly to FastLane' "Password Reset" page:
https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/Admin/PIPasswordLogin.html
Enter the following information into the fields on this page:
- SSN (do not use hyphens)
- Your last name
- Your email address
Then click the Login button. FastLane will email a new password directly to your email account.
