Deadline Policy

The current policy for articles submitted to Paydirt are as follows.

All articles must be submitted on or before midnight of deadline day.

Exceptions to the deadline day are:

if you inform the Paydirt Editor of the delay prior to the day of deadline
if you were assigned an article to write by the Paydirt Editor that falls after the deadline
if you are Paydirt article writing staff, this policy does not directly affect you

This policy will be enforced to prevent any unexpected work for our copyeditor or layout designer to do between deadlines and the time needed to make the newspaper for press.

This does not mean we discourage you from writing for Paydirt, this is to ensure that there is an appropriate balance of workload for the staff to produce a quality newspaper. If you believe you are not going to make our deadlines, it does not hurt to send an email a day before the deadline and you may be granted an extension.

Test Site

Over the next few weeks we will be transitioning over to the new Paydirt website. We are currently in the works of modifying and changing things on our test site before we begin the battle of implementing this design and all the features that went in installing the test site.

Apologies for the lack of updating. We had our latest issue out regarding student elections this past week.

Next issue of Paydirt, May 1st, 2007, will be the last issue of the spring semester. Please send in your last articles via email ASAP.

If you are interested in continuing Paydirt for the summer, we may offer a Summer Edition (seeing if there are any articles). If you are interested (bored) and want to write articles, please email paydirt@nmt.edu for details.

New Issue Out!

Paydirt is out and this time in color. Our Spring Fling Edition is one of the best issues out there.

Additionally, we are working out details to bring Paydirt online in PDF format. We have contacted the NMT Library in seeing how we can upload it to their new DSpace server.

Spring Elections are April 19th, 2007. If you are a Vice-President candidate, please send in your reason why you want to be elected (500 words max) and a vertical-standing picture. Send this to paydirt@nmt.edu or paydirt.nmt.edu@gmail.com.

SA Elections

If you (or anyone you know) are a planning to run in the upcoming the Student Association Elections to be held in April, please let us know. Presidents and Vice Presidents are welcome to write a 500 word letter explaining why they should get elected. Also we need a vertical-standing photo to place alongside your letter.

Deadline is April 5th, 2007.

Article and Photo Deadline Extended

For those wishing to write an article about the upcoming Spring Fling, please email paydirt@nmt.edu in advance what you are going to write about and/or photograph.

The deadline for the April 5th issue is going to be extended up to April 2nd, 2007 at the latest. If you want to write a review about the bands playing during Spring Fling, please let us know!

Photographs, please send in your best photos in order to go into the Spring Fling edition of Paydirt.

New Issue this Tuesday

Paydirt is back on schedule! We will have a new issue out on Tuesday, March 20, 2007. In this issue we have a tentative Spring Fling schedule and prizes.

Due to the circumstances last weekend and week, we put bumped several articles that were intended to go into this issue. So there is an interim issue for this week to cover the remainder of all submitted articles.

We are aware we bumped other articles and we apologize for this. They will be worked into the next issue.

We also need more articles from everyone. Deadline has been extended until Thursday, February 22, 2007. If you cannot make this deadline, please email us about it so we can arrange special conditions.

Also as an announcement since Paydirt needs your help to write and photograph the Spring Fling issue, if anyone wants to write articles and take photos, please email us at paydirt@nmt.edu and what you may be interested.

If you are interested in creating a Yearbook, the Paydirt Editor and two RAs are working to make this happen. We need more help to make this a success and form a class out of this test-trial. Email paydirt@nmt.edu for more details or stop by the office to ask questions on how you can help.

Additionally, the Student Activities Board needs your input on what to do for Spring Fling, you can either enter this survey (http://www.surveyconsole.com/console/TakeSurvey?id=309206) and attend SAB meetings in Fidel Center 3rd Floor Lobby at 1pm every Tuesday.

New Issue - #2

On Thursday we published our second issue of the spring 2007 semester. Pick it up in a variety of locations across campus.

The paper can be found in Fidel Center, Workman, Jones Annex, MSEC, Speare, Cramer, Weir, Library, Brown, Fitch, Gym, Fine Arts, and Macey. Additional locations across campus include Workman (3rd floor), Weir (Math Help Room), and Fidel (Computer Pod). Also for the dorms, they are located in study/main lounges in Presidents, Driscoll, West, South, Altamirano, Baca, and Desert Willow.

Did we forgot a location? Did we forget to stick a new newspaper edition somewhere? Email paydirt@nmt.edu or leave a message below in order to notify us of the missed location and we'll fix it as soon as possible.

Content due for the next issue is January 23, 2007. If you cannot make this deadline but wish to put an article in for the February 1, 2007 issue, email us ASAP and tell us at the latest when you can submit it.

If you have an idea for an article to be featured in Paydirt, but you don't know if it's a good idea, run it by us and we can guide you so it can get published in the newspaper.

Deadlines and Issue Dates

We now have a calendar of dates and deadlines for Spring 2007. Paydirt is currently going to accept deadlines for the first newspaper until this Friday. This allows us time to edit articles, design, print, and distribute the newspaper on-time.

Also, deadlines for advertisements fall under the same dates. There will be some flexibility with deadlines and issue dates to accommodate with class and school schedules but under extraordinary cases.

If you wish to write an article, photograph, drawing, please follow the schedule deadlines and submit all works on or before the deadline. If you can't make the deadline and want to have something published, email paydirt@nmt.edu to notify us.

Note: All submitted work will be edited for grammar and in some cases content. If you are a New Mexico Tech student, you do get paid for your work that gets published.
