St. Patrick's takes home NMCSC Pennies for Peace Challenge trophy again - 01/01/2006
St. Patrick's once again took top honors in the NMCSC Penny Challenge. The event was held in conjunction with the annual NCSC Pennies for Peace Campaign. Students from NM Tech, NMSU, UNM, and WNMU competed to raise the most spare change to take to the NCSC conference in Chicago, IL. NMT came in first place with $387.54 raised for the campaign. UNM came in second place with $265.00. WNMU brought $38.75 and NMSU brought $17.73.
Money raised from the program will go to support campus ministries affected by Hurricane Katrina. Overall the entire NCSC raised $1,951.65.
New Mexicans head to Chicago, IL en masse - 12/28/05
7 Techies traveled to Chicago for the 22nd Annual NCSC Leadership Conference "Be the Flame: Ask Me How I Share My Faith". Students heard from Fr. Mike Deeb and Amy Wellborn on the conference theme. Over 25 New Mexicans joined together at the conference, the largest presence of any one state.
During the conference, Eric Pfiefer of NMSU was discerned as the 2006 Western Region Chair. He will lead students from 13 Western States and represent us in a great variety of events and activities. Other members of St. Patrick's were discerned into national leadership activities including: Sarah Gonzales (NM Tech) ) [Team West], Tori Deoreo [IRC], Nick Carter [PR], George Schmaltz [PR & Alumni Commission]
St. Patrick's wins NMCSC Penny Challenge - 01/04/2005
St. Patrick's was selected as the first winner of the NMCSC Penny Challenge. The event was held in conjunction with the annual NCSC Pennies for Peace Campaign. Students from NM Tech, NMSU, and UNM competed to raise the most spare change to take to the NCSC conference. NMT came in first place with $416.03 raised for the campaign. UNM followed closely with $403.37.
Money raised from the program will go to support the International Movement of Catholics Students (IMCS) Pan African Assembly (PAA) program "No to stigma - Yes to Solidarity.' The program is aimed at AIDS treatment and prevention through Catholic Social Teaching.
Newman Students Head to D.C. - 12/29/2004
Three students from St. Patrick's went to Washington D.C. to attend the National Catholic Student Coalition (NCSC) Annual Leadership Conference. This year's theme was "Ask Me Why I Serve the Church." Through the week long conference, students reflected on campus ministry and how they could best serve the Church at large. During the conference NMCSC Liaison Paul Dailey was discerned as a NCSC Team West Representative while President George Schmaltz was discerned to help Team West as a technical coordinator. George also was discerned to work with the Public Relations Committee, serve as Tech Team leader, and serve on the International Relations and Communications Committee. Activities Coordinator Patricio Pino attended his first conference and will be preparing for future involvement in the NCSC.
September 24 and 25 provided a wonderful activity for the New Mexico Catholic Student Coalition as it held its inaugural fall activity weekend at St. Patrick's in Socorro. Approximately 25 students from around New Mexico came together to partake in fun and learning. Friday night kicked off with a scavenger hunt in Socorro, followed by more ice breaker activities. Saturday featured workshops on NCSC, NMCSC, and Empowered by the Spirit, the USCCB guide to Catholic campus ministry. Details were discussed for the upcoming Pennies for Peace Campaign and future projects.
Chapel Celebrates 1st Mass - 9/1/2004
The Chapel at St. Patrick's has officially celebrated it's first Mass. Fr. John C. Daniel of San Miguel celebrated student Mass on September 1, 2004. Regular monthly student Masses will be happening at St. Patrick's throughout the semester. The first Wednesday of every month there will be Mass and a meal for all students.
Newman kicked off it's year of activities with a welcome back BBQ for all students on August 29th. Students relaxed and got to reconnect with old friends while meeting a few new ones. Plans were made for Newman activities for the coming semester and for upcoming conferences, retreats, and more. Drop by Newman to learn more!
NMCSC has busy summer - July & August 2004
The New Mexico Catholic Student Coalition is back in action thanks to the hard work of dedicated college students from around the state. July 15-17 marked the 1st Annual "NMCSC Summer Retreat." In August, representatives met with Bishop Ricardo Ramirez of Las Cruces and Bernadette Jaramillo from the Archdiocese of Santa Fe Youth and Young Adult Ministries Office.

Holy Rollers Take 2nd in Intramurals Tournament - May 2004
The Holy Rollers Intramural Soccer Team took 2nd place in its first season of formation. The team consists of members of St. Patrick's along with fellow Christians from the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship on campus. The team played an excellent season and won every game, headed into the tournament.

Father John Daniel presided over a fun filled Baccalaureate Mass to honor all students graduating from New Mexico Tech this year. Students were treated to a formal blessing and offered congratulations for their years of hard work, while reminded to keep God as a focus in their lives. After Mass, graduates and guests were treated to a barbeque served by Newman's finest!

Holy Week Pilgrimage - 4/9/2004

Students from our Newman Center participated in the annual Good Friday Pilgrimage from our St. Patrick's Newman Center to San Lorenzo in Polvadera. Over this ~12 mile journey the group came together and focused on the sacrifices our Lord made in our lives. This was an incredible bonding experience for all involved. The event was successful and will hopefully become an annual event for the students of St. Patrick's.

Newman Center Dedicated - 3/10/2004
March 10, 2004 was the official dedication of our Newman Center in the name of St. Patrick, Patron Saint of Engineers. Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Michael J. Sheehan.
