Mission Statement

  • Provide the students with an education in the fundamentals of engineering that will allow immediate entry into industry, government, research or academia and provide a solid theoretical and applied foundation for future professional development and growth.
  • Maintain high level of commitment and excellence in teaching and research, provide the time and effort to understand the individual students particular learning abilities and needs, give guidance and provide the environment to achieve those abilities. 

Program Educational Objectives

Program graduates will:

  • Develop creativity in thinking and skills in problem solving to enhance their employer’s ability to be competitive within the industry, as they advance in their professional career.
  • Develop leadership communication skills within the framework of a team while demonstrating the ability to work independently.
  • Maintain a strong sense of professional and ethical responsibility with a strong corresponding sense of social awareness.
  • Advance in engineering or management status and demonstrate measurable progress in achieving personal and professional goals after graduation.

Student Outcomes

a. an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering
b. an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data
c. an ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social,
    political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
d. an ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
e. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
f. an understanding of  professional and ethical responsibility
g. an ability to communicate  effectively
h. the broad education necessary to understand  the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economical, environmental, and societal context
i. a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning
j. a knowledge of contemporary issues
k. an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
