Can someone please tell me how to mount a CD or other removable storage device on RedHat Enterprise Linux 5 without having to be on the console and being a normal non-root user?

In rhel4 there was fstab-sync which just ment you had to type mount /media/cdrom

now with rhel5, one MUST be logged in to the console in order to click on the stupide pop-up box to mount removable media.

Good job Red Hat. Way to ignore the last 20 years of remotely using UNIX computers. You know not everyone logs into the damned console. If I wanted a computer that I had to login to the console and use damned GUIs, I would have installed Windows.
