I just realized that for slightly over half of my life, there has been a Bush in the Whitehouse. That's 18 of the last 35 years and of those I have voted against a Bush three times. I'm not quite old enough to have voted against four times. Not sure if I would have.
Makes me think I don't want a Clinton back in the Whitehouse either.
anyways, since I'm on the political topic, here are some of my political opinions and who else believes in them. I have crazier ideas, but nobody will ever listen to me :)
small government old-school Republicanlow taxes Republican. Low taxes for everyone, not just white, affluent christians.
strong defense old-school Republican. The current Rep likes strong _offence_ which is not the same thing.
fiscal responsibility This used to be a Republican idea. These days, the Republicans couldn't balance a checkbook.
pro choice Democrat. Do they still believe in this?
gay marriage neither party approves of this but it should be left up to the states just like marriage has been for over 200 years. nuclear someday, enough idiots will mispronounce it that Oxford will just accept it. *sigh*
Capitalist healthcare our healthcare system is messed up as it is. paying for everyone to be in this messed up system is insane. Government should stay away from my health care.
Social Security Yeah, that'll have to go.
checks and balances This is an American belief. The Republicans used to believe in it also.
stop declaring war on things that aren't wars drugs, terrorism, literacy
Drugs while we're on the subject, haven't we learned that Prohibition doesn't work in this country. Let's legalize a drug or two. See what happens.
