sleeping techniques

So, I think I mentioned that I haven't been sleeping well. I recently attempted to remedy this by drinking alcohol before bedtime. Unfortunately, I stayed up till 3am drinking and had a very hard time waking up the next morning. I then tried just going to bed earlier, about 11:30pm. But, as I have observed in the past, I am just plain tired if I get up before about 9:30am. I am now thinking of trying lots of exercise, and failing that, blows to the head.
