Radio Stations

On the subject of radio stations, I got a tour of Clear Channel's facility in Albuquerque where five radion stations are housed. Having been a DJ for KTEK for many years I was very curious as to what real radio stations looked like. I arrived at about 8:30pm on a saturday night to find one DJ, one DJ in the entire building.

Don't panic, this is normal. All the stations are completely computerized. The DJ - now I know why they are now referred to as on-air personalities, because the dont spin anything - simply clicks a mouse from time to time on the computer and the pre-programmed music comes streaming out. If you listen to the radio and hear someone call in, dont believe it. It's all canned. That person is probably living in Denver CO and called in three days ago.

This is very sad to me, as I like being a DJ. So, support your local college radio station. There is probably an actual human in a booth somewhere actually spinning music for you. Appreciate it!
