Dear prospective graduate students for 2007-2008 ,

Thanks for your interest in the graduate program at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

I am always looking for enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students (and postdocs) interested to collaborate with me. I have several research projects in mind for new students and I am always willing to think of other possibilities as well.

The projects I keep in mind are related to

• nonlinear internal waves in the ocean and in lakes;
• modeling of atmospheric motion around the Earth;
• climate variability models;
• parameterization of mixing processes in a deep ocean;
• large-sclae ocean circualtion models.
  

The work in these areas will use both theoretical and computational methods. Additionally, I expect to collaborate with the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NMT to conduct experimental investigations.
