Singular Asymptotics of Partial Differential Operators

Ivan G. Avramidi (Department of Mathematics, New Mexico Tech)

ABSTRACT:

Most of the differential equations cannot be solved analytically. In a situation when there is a small parameter, one can try to employ some sort of perturbation theory to solve the problem. A singular perturbation is such when the small parameter appears at the highest derivative. The perturbation theory of a singularly perturbed problem has its own specifics and requires special asymptotic methods. We will describe asymptotic methods for solution of the parabolic linear differential equations.
