| I am a student at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, affectionately known as "Tech". Tech is a small research school in the middle of the desert; there are about 1000 students studying here. It's really similar to Colorado School of Mines, with exception to the fact that there isn't much to do but study (although I've noticed that drinking and computer games are also popular activities.) On rare occasion, something truly interesting and amazing happens in the world around me (aside from car bombs exploding: that's actually normal) | |
 | I'm studying chemistry as a major, although I do a lot of work with computers, which I find to be very interesting, although less so than they were when I was younger. As I have aged, I have found that I'm really drawn to the outdoors, and I don't spend quiet so much time chasing inane concepts that will be obsolete by the time I need to use them anyway. Instead I climb, bike, run, backpack, cave, and generally seek adrenaline while avoiding a normal life. I'm currently considering careers in research, teaching, and medicine. |
As I am advancing in life, I am increasingly finding myself cast near and far, engaging in all sorts of marvelous adventures. The summer of 2002 I spent traipsing between Socorro, Charleston SC, Mt. Pleasant MI, Portsmouth (and Dover and Durham) NH, and the R/V Ron Brown. I spent the summers of 2001 and 2003 guiding backpacking treks in the Pecos Wilderness for Boy Scout camp Frank Rand. You can usually find photos and stories from these adventures and more the adventures page. |
| | I'm a pretty quiet person, and keep to myself most of the time. I have a few friends about who I see intermittently. I'm not currently dating anyone, although I'm more or less open to the concept, baring the fact that I really don't seem to have the time to share a chunk of my life with someone. Unlike many of my fiends, I don't feel compelled to settle down and get married. There are greater truths, duties, callings, and adventures. It is hard to have devoted ones life to another and at the same time wake up in the morning and say "Where can I go today?" without some restriction. |
