Thought for the Day

Quote from Chief Seattle of the Suquamish Tribe:

Whatever befalls the earth, befalls the children of the earth. We did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.

Sioux Prayer:

Ho! Great spirit, grandfather, you have made everything and are in everything. You sustain everything, guide everything, provide everything, and protect everything, because everything belongs to you. I am weak, poor and lowly; nevertheless, help me to care, in appreciation and gratitude to you, for everything. I love the stars, the sun and the moon, and I thank you for our beautiful Mother, the earth, whose many breasts nourish the fish, the fowls, and the animals too. May I never deceive Mother Earth, may I never deceive my people, may I never deceive myself, and above all may I never deceive you.
