Adobe Reader Help

Launching Adobe Reader from Your Browser to View/Print Application Materials

In order to view/print application materials, Adobe Reader must be installed on your computer and the browser's helper application for file type application/pdf must be configured. The reader can be obtained free of charge from Adobe.


Adobe Reader Download/Installation Instructions:

To install Adobe Reader on your computer:

1. Click here: Free Software From Adobe

2. After reaching the site, scroll down to where you see a reference to "free Acrobat Reader"  Click on this option and follow instructions (three steps) for the various for platforms and operating systems including (among others):

  • Windows(R)

  • Macintosh(R)

  • Sun Solaris X 86(TM)

  • Sun Solaris Sparc(TM)

  • Linux

  • IBM (AIX)

  • HP/UX(TM)

  • Digital UNIX

  • OS/2 Warp

  • Palm OS

  • Pocket PC

3. Select the "Download" link and then where you want to install the software.

Once you have Adobe Reader on your computer you will likely have to configure your browser to launch Adobe Reader. If you are a Netscape user and you get an error message when you select a file for printing/viewing, please do the following:

  1. Open Netscape and choose the "Edit" menu item.

  2. Select "Preferences"

  3. Select "Applications"

  4. If you do not see "Acrobat" among the applications listed; 

  5. Select "New Type ..."

  6. Type "pdf" next to file extensions.

  7. The MIME Type should be "application/pdf".

  8. "Browse" to find the location of the Adobe Reader (Acrobat.exe).

  9. Click on "Open".

  10. Click on "OK".

  11. Again, click on "OK".
