As one of the most famous philosophers in
the history of China, Confucius (551-479 BC) was born in the state
of Lu (present-day Shandong Province). As a teacher, since 527 BC
he travelled and instructed the disciples that gathered around him.
In his years, Confucius has encouraged people
to revive the principles of the ancient sages. Confucius lectured
to his pupils on the classics and taught the value of the power
of example, while he did not write down the principles of his philosophy.
The Analects, however, compiled by his disciples, is the main source
delivering the information about his ideas.
