This page is dedicated to my two furry characters, Rooth'roo and Rooth'ragon. You may find yourself asking, "What is a furry?" Well, no need to scratch that noggin' any further -- just click that link, and you'll find out.

Cast of Characters

Rooth'roo - the giant white kangaroo of perpetual bounce

Dragon plays a 65' tall VERY bouncy, childishly funny and innocent, dimension exaggerated, pure white kangaroo on a world known as FurryMUCK. This world is basically a textual virtual reality where all the characters are various and often unusual forms of furry creatures. Some taken from books, most purely spontaneous and original. This character Dragon plays is known as Rooth'roo.

Eiji Ikuta, a talented artist from Japan, created this delightful image of Rooth'roo. It really is quite good! I gave Eiji the backgrounds to use -- the one with the sunset was taken by me in Socorro, NM (the mountains are the Magdelenas), and helps illustrate the quote in the picture, which reads: "Bounce - to feel the earth and the sky, but to fully belong to neither." A fellow named Ruffin on FurryMUCK came up with that one. In return for such a gift, I am working on a drawing for Eiji - not my strongest skill by a long shot, but it's what he chose :) I'll show it here when it's done.

Some months later, having been completely disgusted with my lack of drawing talent, I still haven't finished my drawing for Eiji. Ah, but a dragon cartoon artist of some renown has given me new inspiration! Malathar has drawn two insanely cute pictures of Rooth'roo. The first one came so quickly, I wasn't able to tell him in time to make bigger feet, so he drew a second one!.

Then he made a Rooth'ragon picture to boot! And very quickly, too, I might add. This guy has talent!

Here's some drawings of Rooth'roo to give you some visual aids. This one (on the left) was drawn by a fellow on the MUCK known as Hopper_roo (AKA - Peter LaVerdiere).

To the right is another Rooth'roo, by Rave! The first try had small feet. ;) This one is perfect.

Lower left, we have another image of Rooth'roo by a friend who goes by the handle of Cataroo. I've loved her stuff ever since I discovered furrydom, and so was quite happy with her rendering of my bouncy character. :)

You can see and buy works from these and many other artists at your local ConFurence convention - one on the east coast, and one on the west coast.

Rooth'ragon - a dragon of white with a heart of stone

Rooth'ragon makes a cameo in the on-line furry comic strip, West Corner Of The Park! This comic strip is often amusing out of context, but sometimes it's even better within the context of what the WCOTP means to the Furry community. The WCOTP is a popular hang-out area on FurryMUCK. People are constantly popping in and out, sometimes teleporting, sometimes just dropping right out of the sky. All sorts of conversations, commentary, and just plain fun happens there, all day and all night long. Quite facinating, often amusing, Jim Groat (Rabbi_Tom) tries to capture the bizaare and silly spirit of the WCOTP. Check it out!

Karena Kliefoth did this Rooth rendition (left) in exchange for some of my own art (entirely different medium, of course ;).
Gary Seto did this one (right) for me at ConFURence 8. I don't think Gary has a web site, but you can email Gary. Ask him about his "Dreamwall" photo project!

Lynx of FurryMUCK (aka Conrad Wong) is a friend and really cool artist who did a quick drawing of Rooth'ragon and Rooth'roo (left) together in one shot. And Genesis Eve Cook, formerly Gen@FurryMUCK, is another friend and really cool artist who drew an awesome full-color rendition of Rooth'ragon (right)!
