Socorro in one small county located in the center of the state of New Mexico. The population of this county is estimated to be about 10,000, including 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students working at New Mexico Tech, while is the only one institution providing higher eduation at Socorro. |
About New Mexico Tech

New Mexico Tech is a small and personalized institute at Socorro, New Mexico. As one university specializing in science and engineering education and research, Tech has divisions and departments that perform world-class research programs providing unique opportunities for those students studying at Tech.
The first year study at Tech is not easy due to many factors, such as communication problem and course loads. While hopefully you will get used to the campus life here soon. As we suggest according to our experiences, please take only two or three courses at most for each semester because you probably also need some time to complete the work from your advisor.

Anyway, you need one bicycle during your first several month here. That is not so cheap as in China, and one new bicycle will cost you nearly 100 dollars. While, maybe you are fortunate to find a second-handed one here ......
The living cost at Sorocco is pretty lower compared to most other states. Generally speaking, those students from China choose to live off campus, while there are also family houses avaiable on campus. The rent fee for the apartments off campus ranging from $300.00 to $500.00, while how much you would pay depends on how many studetns share with you. In addition to the rent fee, you might have to pay about $40.00 for water and electricity. You are hoped to contact the CSSA, and we will inquire something information before you arrive here.
It is anticipated that after one year you will afford one second-handed car, which might cost you several thousand dollars (ranging from 2000 to 8000, or more). |
