Course Rules and Expectations
In
order to have a good year, I feel that it is necessary to write out a list of
rules and expectations.
1. No
food, gum, or drink (except bottled water), will be permitted in the classroom.
2. You
are responsible for bringing your book, paper, and pencil to every class
meeting.
3. The
dress code will be enforced. If you have questions concerning the dress code
refer to your student handbook.
4. If
you are tardy, go to the office to get an excuse slip; or if you have come from
another teacher’s classroom, have the teacher give you a note so that you may
be admitted to my class. Three unexcused tardies equal one unexcused absence.
5. If
you are absent, it is your responsibility to bring in an excuse
note to the office and to me and then to ask for any missing assignments.
6. Work
turned in later than one class period after it has been assigned is considered
late and points will be deducted. Assignments up to one week late will be
graded. If you don’t turn in the assignment within one week, you should keep
the assignment for your notebook, but I will not grade it.
7. I
highly value participation, so those people who participate by reading aloud,
answering questions, and/or just helping out around the classroom, (cleaning up
after yourself and others, etc.), will receive points. If you are making a B+
at the end of the semester, participation points throughout the semester could
bring you up to an A. (Help me out and I will help you out!)
8. To
build organizational skills, you are required to get a folder for this class.
(I will tell you what color to buy.)
Folders will be checked every four weeks and extra credit points will be
given for having old assignments.
9. And
last but not least………Treat others as you want to be treated!!!
I hope we all have a great year!
