Instructor General Information

Questions, and Answers

If my proposal is selected to be included in the schedule, how will I know and what other paperwork do I need to complete?
If your proposal is selected for inclusion, you will receive a letter or e-mail notifying you as such. If you are not a current NMT employee or student, you will need to fill out an application form through Human Resources. Most employees will need to fill out tax forms at the payroll office. Please contact them if you are unsure as to whether you need to do this.
Once hired, all community college lecturers are required to complete appropriate paperwork in order to assure a paycheck. Please see the Community College Coordinator for more information.

How will I be paid?
Community College Lecturers are paid a percentage of their class enrollment tuition. Credit class lecturers are paid 65% of regular undergrad tuition per credit hour, per student for that class. Non-credit Lecturers are paid 60% of regular undergrad tuition, per credit hour, per student for that class. Please see the Community College Coordinator for payment options.

What are my responsibilities as a Community College Lecturer?

  • Teaching your course in a professional manner
  • Maintaining class records
  • Returning paperwork on-time
  • Notifying the community college of any problems that arise

What NMT and the Community College Office
will do for you:

The Community College office is here to help you prepare for your course.

  • A copier is available for your use in the Registrar's Office in Brown Hall.
  • The CC office maintains all financial records relating to your course.  Please see the coordinator if you need to make any purchases for your class.
  • The Community College office processes all paperwork relating to your course and your employment at NMT.
  • Timely paychecks
  • A clean, appropriate space for your class.
  • Lecturer Status: All community College Lecturers are part-time temporary employees. While this does offer some benefits, they are limited. See the HR office for more details. This status does not entitle you or your family to free access to NMT facilities. See the Coordinator for more details on access to facilities.
