| Chemical Engineering Faculty Lead in Research Productivity According to the Science Citation Index (SCI), Chemical Engineering faculty at New Mexico Tech continue to have the highest publication rate of all programs on campus. For the past three years, Chemical Engineering faculty have published an average of 2.1 technical journal articles per faculty member. The program has led the campus in this measurement of research productivity for the last two years. Don Weinkauf, Chair of Chemical Engineering, commented, “Despite being an undergraduate program, we have adopted the philosophy of excelling in research.” The program has longstanding relationships with other graduate programs on campus, which enable strong interactions of undergraduate Chemical Engineers working side-by-side with ChemE faculty and graduate students from other programs. “The recipe actually works quite well and students get first-hand research experience in cutting edge engineering projects, “ says Weinkauf.
