Dr. Dong's Reasearch Featured in C&E News

The zeolite membrane research driven by Dr. Junhang Dong (far left in picture) of the Department of Chemical Engineering has been featured in the cover story of the most recent issue of Chemical & Engineering News (Oct. 3, 2005). Dr. Dong's work is in collaboration with Dr. Tina Nenoff (2nd from left) at Sandia National Labs and Dr. Martha Mitchell (2nd from right) of New Mexico State University. The MFI-type zeolite membranes synthesized in Dr. Dong's labs are being explored for carbon dioxide/nitrogen and m-xylene/p-xylene separations. Additonally, the article describes his work's more recent breakthroughs in catalytic membranes for nonoxidative conversion of methane to hydrogen.

Dr. Junhang Dong joined the Chemical Engineering Faculty in 2001. He came to New Mexico Tech with post-doc research experience at Univ. of Cincinnati and Oak Ridge National Lab.
