Atmospheric Chemistry

For example one research area in the Department involves the study of natural and anthropogenic sources and emissions of trace gases under natural and perturbed conditions, such as oceanic iron fertilization and elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2).  Iron fertilization is being explored as a means to capture more CO2 in the oceans and could help to alleviate global warming.
