Miner's Friend

The Miner's Friend; 8'x 8' 2', 1991, New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology Library, Socorro, NM. for Art, Mew Mexico Arts Division. The burro has been part of the school's logo since its establishment in 1889. This animal has helped man advance in the world of technology throughout history.


The sculpture incorporates items representative of all departments of the school. Some materials include: minerals from around the world (brow); hardness tests (under eyes); computer chip innards of weather balloons, and oil viscosity tests (bridge of nose).
