Jungle Lord by Pat Drennan won best of show.
Inspired by an Oriental drawing, this quilt is
hand-appliqued and features paper pieced flying geese in the tiger's
stripes and tail.

Left: Solar Flare. Scrappy curved flying geese were designed in Gail Garber's class. Machine
pieced and quilted.
Right: Nature's Geometry: Bubble Hive. Inspired by scientific
photos, bubbles always intersect at 120 degree angles. Machine appliqued,
embroidered and quilted. This quilt won Judge's choice and an award for
unique use of thread.
Seven Stones by Katy Jane Widger. An abstract
representation of her personal response to the color, rhythm and texture
inherent in the landscape and sky of New Mexico. This triptich
won first place in the art quilt division.
Hollyhocks an adaptation by Katy Korkos.
Left: Venice Revisited hand appliqued by Jackie
Evans and machine quilted by Leta Brazell. This design was inspired by a
photograph taken in Venice.
Right: Bali-Hawaiian adapted by Grace Sanders. Machine appliqued and quilted from
a pattern in Miniature Quilt Magazine.
Closeup of Gene Pool, Bonnie Jean
Rosenbaum's adaptation of the Stack and Whack technique. Machine
quilted with metallic thread by Vel Saddington; this quilt won the award
for best machine quilting.
