Reynolds Family of Fine Felines
It seems fitting that the first hours with my new digital
camera (a Polaroid PDC 300)
should be spent with my five furry children. While I was learning to
operate the
new toy, the cats were laying claim to the packing materials including the
Walmart bag. This is Pepita, the runt of the litter.

Here are the parents, Anastasha Purrfect and Michail
Baryshnicat, lovely
cats of pure New Mexico Tech stray-cat stock. Better known as
Tasha and Misha, these two cats are litter mates, born in 1989.
Tasha's father was a Siamese of questionable parentage and
Misha's father was a sleek black cat.

In 1991 Tasha and Misha had a litter of six kittens, 2
greys and 4 blue point Siamese wanna be's. This is Humphrey,
better known as Hummer, after he took over the Walmart bag from
Pepita.
Here's Debra, exploring the packing materials for the
camera. Debra was originally adopted by a very nice woman and a
family of some dozen cats and named Debbie. But when she
returned to live with us she declared she did not want to be
known as "Debbie Reynolds", so we renamed her Debra.
Last, and least in size but not in love, is Penelope Jane, who
declared the day she opened her eyes that her name was Pepita. Only later
did we realize that "Pepita" was actually baby-talk for Penelope Jane.
Sometimes we call her Peppy, Puppy, or Pupper, but mostly we just have to
laugh because Pepita is the craziest of them all.
