Cut 4 squares 4 7/8" of the medium fabric.
Cut 3 squares 4 7/8" of the dark fabric.
Cut 1 square 4 7/8" of the light fabric.
This will give you enough 4 7/8" squares to make two 8" (finished) blocks.
Lay the squares together in pairs (Med/Dark, Med/Dark, Med/Dark,
Med/Light).
Sew diagonally across them 1/4 " off the center line on each side.
Then cut down the middle and you have two squares that measure 4 1/2".
It takes four of these smaller squares to make one finished square like the
pattern at the top of this page.
