Socorro Bouldering Guide - Box Canyon - Dog Ball Banana Wall

In the hilly area North of Alf Rig and West of Handlebar Willy there are a number of small bouldering areas. These areas are commonly approached from the North by parking on the ranch road where it approaches an arroyo or from the East by parking at Handlebar Willy. If you want to fill a day, park at Alf Rig and head downhill, circuit these areas and then make your way back up to Alf Rig to finalize the destruction of your muscles.

The Scrotum

  1. The Angry Bag - V2 Bob 3/20/04
    Left end, go up slippery arete from sit start.
    PUT IT IN THE ANGRY BAG!!!
  2. Hernia - V1
    Sit start, use steeply angling shelf to get to the top.
  3. ? - V4 Peck
    Sit start just right of the arete on horrible crimpers. Crimp to the jug just below the lip and top out.

    Slab problem.
  5. Careful Shave - V0
    Juggy straight up.
  6. The Scrotum - V4 bad landing
    Sit start in the alcove on the obvious shelf at eye level. Go straight up to two smooth slopers, top out.
    Pad that nasty edge on the boulder behind you.
