Strategies for Successful Application to Medical School |
The successful application to medical school requires a significant
amount of planning and forethought. In addition to having the appropriate cognitive skills (coursework,
grades and test scores), successful applicants must be aware of a number of non-cognitive factors that are
considered by admissions committees. This talk will provide an overview of a successful medical school
application, and concentrate on the non-cognitive components of the medical school application including
the interview, letters of recommendation, clinical and community volunteer experience, and personal
experiences. Strategies for improving unsuccessful applications will also be covered. In addition, there
will be a discussion of the preparation for the medical school curriculum. The formal presentation will be
about 30 minutes with another 30 minutes for questions. |
