1. Jan 21-26 is the ACERS conference in Daytona Beach. Flight tickets are about $180. Also, Seth knows a conference organizer who will pay for housing cost plus $8 an hour for working at the conference (Giving tours, doing demos, doing registration). If you are interested let one of the officers know ASAP.
2. Mid February is the TSM conference in Orlando. Flight tickets are about $225.
3. Mid February is the GSA conference at New Mexico Tech. Abstracts is due Dec 14th. There will be cash awards!
4. The second week in February is Engineering Week. We will be doing the Rube-Goldberg contest and setting up demos. Dr. H wants us to start working on the Rube-Goldberg machine now. Information can be found at the following website: http://www.rube-goldberg.com/
5. The SA is having a food drive. Bring non-perishable items such as rice, baby food, and canned vegetables to the wrapped box outside the department secretaries office. Last day to donate is Dec 10th.
6. The TSM website has opened votes for the top ten greatest materials contributions. See the list on the bulletin board in the Jones Lobby and go vote!
7. Thanks to all those in the Materials soccer team. Soccer will be indoor and outdoor next semester. Contact Ben Crowder if you are interested.
8. The registrar's office claims that the MATE 189 class is closed. This is wrong! Tell the registrants to call the department secretary, Kathy, and you can register.
9. Thanks to Dr. B for hosting the Thanksgiving Dinner. It was a great success.
