| Semester | Course name | Development |
| Spring 2008 | MENG 300 Solid Mechanics Laboratory | Experiments are carefully selected to provide students various perspective of “Structural Testing”. Contents of this course is divided into two parts: 1) Deterministic Experimentation using set experimental setups, and 2) Designing an experimental setup. In part 1 of the lab, students would explore a number of structural engineering problems involving axial, bending, torsion and combined loads. Through loading apparatus and strain measurement system, students are able to see how their theoretical understanding (ES 302) compares with measurements taken in laboratory. Relevant ASTM standards would be introduced during this time. Most of the experiments would be based on Electrical Resistance Strain Gages (ERSG). Manufacturer of ERSG will provide inner details on ERSG. In part 2 of the laboratory, students would develop a setup to design an experiment. |
| Fall 2005 | ES 489/ EM 589 Engineering Mechanics of Composite Structures | This course will address issues related to composite structures, their macro-mechanics to structural design and development. Emphasis will be given to development of analytical procedures for determining material properties and prediction of structural behavior. We will look into development of effective experimental methods for material characterization, stress analysis, and failure analysis. The course will also explore the concept of “Multifunctional Composite”- a more recent concept that mimics characteristics of Bio- systems. |
| Fall 2004 | CE 301 Introduction to Construction Engineering | The objective of the course would be to facilitate students with decision making process in a construction program. Current concerns confronting today’s engineering economists as they face tomorrow’s challenges are also highlighted. |
| Spring 2004 | CE 201: Materials Properties and Testing | The objective of the course was to facilitate students with the basic understanding of various construction materials used in Civil Engineering projects. The course included laboratory testing of some materials, field trips to some industrial sites and performing individual projects. |
