Posted by Devendra [CLICK FOR PROFILE] Date/Time 6:35:36 AM, Thursday, November 22, 2007 (GMT) As of now.. I only have 4 (order can change any time) 1. Shooting menu bank - helps me change from normal, vivid, portrait, b&w - (anyone guess the readings of each?;) 2. ISO sensitivity auto control - on! 800@1/125 3. Battery Info 4. Live View.. At least the top 3 were common with my D200, except in the history. share your items and possibly settings! --- Nikon D300/D200/D100 Subject My Menu Correction Posted by Terravita [CLICK FOR PROFILE] Date/Time 1:31:27 AM, Tuesday, November 27, 2007 (GMT) This is not correct...on my D300, the entire ISO Sensitivity settings (ISO sensitivity, ISO sensitivity auto control, maximum sensitivity and minimum shutter speed) can be placed in "My Menu". You are quite correct. If you select the high level menu option, all the sub menu items come with it. If you try to select the sub-menu items, you can only select two of the four items. Thank you, you taught me something and I am very happy that I can now adjust this from 'My Menu'. So I use this setting just to toggle focus point display - I usually just want a clean view. 4) Custom d2 - viewfinder grid display 5) Custom a5 - AF activation - it's handy to be able to turn shutter button AF activation on and off. This is handy when you want to use just AF on to focus, pehaps when you are tracking, or when you are manually focusing and you don't want the viewfinder cluttered with focus points (to do this, switch to auto area focus and manual focus). 6) Multiple exposure - just for fun. 7) LCD brightness 8) Custom e3 - flash control for built-in flash - when I want to set flash output manually. 9) Auto meter-off delay - primarily for shooting panos, I think. I'll use this when I want AE lock to lock exposure for a longer time so I can shoot many images at the same exposure. AE lock only locks exposure while the meter is active. 10) Clean image sensor 11) NEF(RAW) recording Nicholas --- Nikon D300/D200/D100 Subject My 5 (so far) Posted by Radu Tenenbaum [CLICK FOR PROFILE] Date/Time 3:09:41 AM, Tuesday, November 27, 2007 (GMT) Display Mode so that I can toggle the highlights blinkies Dynamic AF area 9/21/51/3D Auto ISO Toggle Flash TTL/Commander Toggle Assign Preview Button - Currently set to Bracket Radu http://www.pbase.com/raduray --- Nikon D300/D200/D100 Subject Re: My 5 (so far) Posted by DYswim [CLICK FOR PROFILE] Date/Time 1:23:39 PM, Tuesday, November 27, 2007 (GMT) My 5 - guaranteed to change: 1. Items: 1. Image review 2. e3 Flash control (TTL/Commander) 3. a9 AF-assist (On/Off) 4. Clean image sensor 5. Battery info Reasons: 1. I don't always want the review immediately as I'm concentrating on the shooting. 2. Some shots needed my remote SB-600, others didn't. Will have to see if I can further refine the settings I need somehow. 3. I don't always want my subject to know I'm framing them (candids). 4. Easier to find for when I change lenses. 5. Very useful, even displays to within 1%! Seems like e3 Flash control is a popular choice. After reading DYSwim's top 5, may add self-timer settings as well, for those Christmas family shots! --- Nikon D300/D200/D100 Subject Re: D300 - MY MENU top 8 items? Dynamic area AF 4. Flash control for built-in flash 5. Shooting menu bank 6. Custom settings bank 7. Set picture Control 8. Manage Picture Control I'm sure this list will change as I get used to this camera. I much prefer this to the D200 'last used' list, because I can set exactly the items I want and the order in which they appear. Combinations? Posted by WineMan [CLICK FOR PROFILE] Date/Time 5:09:19 AM, Wednesday, December 19, 2007 (GMT) I come from a D70s so this is all too new for me, and yes its a bit over welming... so far I have in settings this. Shooting Menu A- general photography (if it makes any sense) Walkaround, overall pretty much the factory setting. B- Nature. C- People. D- Landscapes. On the custom settings menu A - General Again. B - Still photography, things that don't really move or are very slow. C - Action (fast moving things or people). D - Tripod Use. And I use any combination off them all. So I have about 16 different settings. I do hope that more people chip in and help us with this settings. If you are very interested in all the settings with detail I'll post them.
