Alumni Email Accounts
Because of licensing constraints and the non-competition law,
the Tech Computer Center (TCC) can no longer provide email
usernames to Alumni.
Therefore, when you graduate and leave NMT, your TCC email
username will be closed 30 days after graduation.
Your email will be forwarded for twelve months after graduation
from user@nmt.edu to user@alumni.nmt.edu
or whatever forward address you have specified
(where user is your current email username).
It is your responsibility to contact the Alumni Office at:

They will create your email address user@alumni.nmt.edu and assign a new password.
During the 30 days after graduation, it is your responsibility to:
- Obtain the user@alumni.nmt.edu username and password
- Copy any files from user@nmt.edu that you want to keep
- In Linux:
- Login to a TCC computer
- Insert a thumb drive or CD/DVD
Thumb Drive
- Click on Computer
- Under Places, Click on your username
- Under Edit, Click on Select All
- Under Edit, Click on copy
- Under Places, Click on the thumb drive (Could have a variety of names: removable media, brand of thumb drive, etc)
- Under Edit, Click Paste
CD/DVD
- Open up a termial (Applications -> System tools -> Terminal)
- Type k3b
- Click on New Data Project
- In the top left window click on Home
- In the top main window (where it lists the files) highlight any file by clicking on one
- Hold down ctrl and press a to highlight all the files and folders
- Click and hold down the mouse button on any highlighted file or folder
- While holding down the mouse button drag the cursor to one of the bottom windows and release the mouse button
- A pop up might display asking "Do you also want to add hidden files?", Click Add
- Click Burn (Above bottom left window)
- In new window click Burn
- In Windows:
- Login to a TCC computer
- Insert a thumb drive or CD/DVD
Thumb Drive
- Click on My Computer
- Double click on U:
- Under Edit, click on Select All
- Under Edit, click on Copy
- Click on My Computer
- Double click on the thumb drive (Could have a variety of names: removable media, brand of thumb drive, etc)
- Under Edit, click on Paste
CD/DVD
- Click on My Computer
- Double click on U:
- Under Edit, click on Select All
- Under Edit, click on Copy
- Click on My Computer
- Double click on the CD/DVD
- Under Edit, click on Paste
- Under CD Writing Tasks, click Write to CD
- Transfer your Address Book
- Login to https://webmail.nmt.edu/
- Select "Addresses" from the top menu
- Select "Export Address Book"
- Save the file
- Edit the file with your favorite TEXT editor
Add the following line to the top of your address book file you just exported:
Nickname, Full Name, First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Note
This will add the headers needed to import the file
- Save the file
- Login to https://mail.alumni.nmt.edu
- Click on Contacts
- Select the Contacts Management page
- Click on the Import button
- Click on the the Browse button
- Navigate to the file you exported from the TCC (and added the header line to)
- Click on the Import button
- done
- Move any email messages from user@nmt.edu to user@alumni.nmt.edu that you want to keep
- Login to https://mail.alumni.nmt.edu
- Click on the Settings link (upper right)
- Click on Accounts
- Click Get mail from other accounts
- Add your TCC account "user@nmt.edu"
- Specify Username: your username
- Password: your TCC password
- Specify POP Server: mailhost.nmt.edu
- Specify Port: 995
- For Option: "Leave a copy of retrieved message on server" (YES)
- For Option: "Always use a secure connection" (YES)
- For Option: "Archive incoming messages" (Don't put them in the inbox) (NO)
- Specify "NO" on the "send mail as username@nmt.edu"
- done
- Create the forwarding address (you can use the web site https://infohost.nmt.edu/tcc/services/forward.php to achieve this)
