Textbook: Elementary Differential Equations, 7th edition, by W.E. Boyce and R.C. DiPrima, John Wiley & Sons

Calculators: Not allowed on quizes, tests, and the final exam.
Homework: The assigned homework will be collected and graded. Homeworks should be submitted at the beginning of the class at the due date. Late homeworks will not be accepted. Two lowest homework grades will not count towards the final grade. Working on homework assignments is crucial in the successful completion of the course.
Quizzes:  There will be about 8 quizzes, each 20 minutes long. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped from the final grade.
Tests: There will be 3 midterm tests (in-class and closed book). The following is a preliminary schedule:
  1. Test 1, September 23
  2. Test 2, October 23

  3. Test 3, November 20
Final exam: Comprehensive, uniform (the same exam in both sections), closed book, no calculators. The date and the time will be announced.
Grade composition:
  • quizzes 10 %
  • homeworks 10 %
  • tests 54 % total  (18 % each test)
  • final exam 26 %
Grading scale:
  • A: 90--100 %
  • B: 80--89%
  • C: 70--79 %
  • D: 60--69 %
  • F: 0--59 %
