Hello. My name is Rebecca Clemens and I am the SES Activity Director/Learning Specialist at NMT. I was the first woman to receive an Associate's degree in MEMS Design from CNM in Albuquerque, then I came to NMT, where I received my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. Currently I'm finishing my NMT Master's in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in solid mechanics.
I returned to school after several careers, including Technologist at Sandia National Laboratories, telecommunications administrator, librarian, newsletter editor, bartender, and commercial baker. For the past two years I was a STEM Communication Fellow in the NMT Writing and Oral Presentation Center, MENG department graduate student representative, and TA for several Mechanical Engineering classes.
My research focuses on structural dynamic characterization of small-scale multipurpose spacecraft payloads and launch acoustics. My interests include reading, baking, and travel. My ideal future career would be helping engineers and scientists to better communicate their ideas and research, allowing me to combine my love of language and engineering knowledge.
